Moresko

New Rusko track, got kinda the same feel as the Mr Hudson remix, sunshine vibes.

Attacca Pesante, Shea Soul - Make it Funky for Me (Rusko Remix)

*At-'tac'-ca
1. Attack at once; - a direction at the end of a movement to show that the next is to follow immediately, without any pause.

*Pay-'ZAHN'-tay
1. A directive to a musician to perform a certain passage in a heavy ponderous fashion, with importance and weight, impressively

Sorry..!

Okay, so I finally got my mix sorted and finished yesterday evening. And i promised I'd have it posted. Only, there were some complications.. Well, one complication.. Apparently I have too much shit on my hard-drive and there was only 470MB free or something.. Anyway, After much time spent going through my old applications and music I've finally managed to free up just enough space to export my mix. Which will be with you a bit later on. I assure you, it's worth the wait!
For now, I'm letting you in on something big! I've not heard of Zeds Dead before but i got a few of their songs the other night from various sources and I'm very impressed! Here's a song to keep you going till my mix gets here:

French Soler - LA Love (Zeds Dead Remix)

WOBCAST 2.0 by jakwob

BIG mix. Check the Ellie Goulding mix mentioned the other day, and the Chipmunk one near the end. In fact, check the whole thing, tracklist below.

Excision

I've been looking for an excuse to use this picture for ages. Chris set it as my desktop a while ago and i just never took it off. It's still on now.. (You'll understand the relevance soon)
Excision is fast becoming one of my favorite producers. If you hadn't noticed already, I love pretty much anything that's got a ridiculous bassline. And Excision gives us just that. I think I've put one of his songs in a post before (Calypso?) but never really said anymore of it.. I heard some more stuff by him recently and fuck me.. It's heavy!
I've put them in my mix (which will be on here later tonight, stay peeled!) but i thought i'd let you a head start.

So, the reason i was allowed to use the Alien vs. Predator picture..
Excision has teamed up with Endophyte (who i checked out on myspace and, to be honest, wasn't too impressed with!) and produced this:

Excision & Endophyte - Aliens

This one's a remix of UltraBlack's 'Bear Trap' which, admittedly, i haven't heard the original of, but i'd advise against listening to this through laptop speakers - the bass is inaudible.

UltraBlack - Bear Trap (Excision Remix)

Don't forget to check back later for the mix I've made! It's taken me ages. It'll be well worth it!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Returning to the usual stuff this time, got a stack load to get to you in this post, so I won't waste any time. Hit the button to get at.

Trouble

I first saw Trevor 'Trouble' Andrew on a snowboarding DVD. I don't really know what his connection with it was.. He was just on it doing gigs and whatever.. He seems like a bit of a fuck up. Likes to party. I guess that can't be a bad thing though. Either way, he makes some pretty good music. I'm going with Mike on this one and moving things away from the normal stuff we post. This is a proper chilled song. It's not 'dance music' or anything like that. I guess you could call it pop. Whatever you want to call it, this is Trouble Andrew. And i like it.

Decoy Rocktopus

I haven't posted in a while because the network firewall for my university accomodation blocks the majority of the file hosting sites we use to avoid any problems with copyright. Although this is really annoying Liddell has done a great job of holding the fort, while I haven't been able to post. However, I have found that soundcloud isn't blocked so hopefully now I'll be able to join in with all the fun and show you what's been stuck on my stereo recently.

The four of us that post on this blog have a lot of music in common, however we also all have our own personal preferences and, although I love all the music that goes up on this blog, I try to highlight this by posting things a little bit different to what everybody else is posting. Hopefully you'll enjoy this mix, which was done by a friend of mine, playing host to some of the hottest new electro/dubstep/grime/bassline around at the moment. Turn it up.

Here's the mix from Decoy Rocktopus (aka Simon Docherty)

Tracklisting:

MeNeO - Subidan
Major Lazer - Pon Di Floor (Ernold Sane Remix)
Tittsworth - WTF (Smoke & Mirrors Remix)
Rico Tubbs - Boom Riddim
Modeselektor - The Black Block (Hiddensee 2008 Version)
Oh Snap!! - Bill Cosby Sweater (Kazey and Bulldog Remix)
Dj Class & Lil Jon - I'm The Ish Remix
Rico Tubbs - Lumberjack
The Faint - Mirror Error (Das Glow Remix)
Tiga - Shoes (Mr Oizo Remix)
Boys Noize - Starter
Drop The Lime - Like Thunder
Shadow Dancer - Infinite Lies
High Rankin - Bubble & Squeak
Shy Child - Noise Won't Stop (Buraka Som Sistema Remix)
Starkey feat Durrty Goodz - Gutter Music
Zomby - 1 Up
Tempa T - Next Hype (Moska Remix)

You should also check out the Dusty Kid - 'Essential Mix' while it's up for some of the best psychedelic italian techno featuring Radiohead and Jose Gonzalez.

I also thought this was quite amusing. Liddell will post a link for download in the near future.

books on tape

Here it is, our first mixtape. 40 minutes of kicks and wobble and shit. Tracklist after the jump.

Pon de Download

C is for Cookies.

Cookie Monsta is making a real name for himself in the dubstep scene. He's producing none-stop and it's all proper good quality stuff. He's got a new mix which i was listening to yesterday in awe.. It's really something else. I dunno if i can post it but I'll find out and see what i can do.
Anyway, I heard this song a while ago in Jakwob's "Wobcast" mix and i loved it. I think it's one of those songs where you need a specific taste in filthy music to enjoy. It really is enough to make you feel a bit light-headed and queezy.
It's also a nice fat 320k so turn it up extra loud..!

Cookie Monsta - Frontline

While we're on the subject of being sick and such, here's a bonus track, just as ridiculously dirty and also a 320k. Enjoy!

Excision And Datsik - Calypso

study ya' tape of NWA

Dannie Darko was nice enough to give us a 320 of this nice little dubstep mix of Dr. Dre. Don't know much about the guy (from London I think) with a pretty barren myspace but a SoundCloud page with 6 tracks that speak for themselves. Driving basslines galore!

Dr. Dre - Forgot About Dre (Dannie Darko VIP)

Keep your eyes locked here for a bit, later today you'll see our first mixtape in 'em !

I Do

I've not heard of Pance Party before and i was sceptical as to what this song was going to be like first time i heard it. I've heard a lot of bad rap/hiphop remixes and i wasn't expecting this to be great. However, I was wrong. So very wrong.
This song is amazing.

Orange Jeuce

Yet another brilliant Ellie Goulding remix, this time from Jeuce. Choppy vocals mixed with a great big wobbling bass makes a song you want in your Itunes. Grab this remix and also check out Jeuce on Myspace.

Ellie Goulding - Under the Sheets (Jeuce Rework) [320kbps]

drum n house?

Hard to believe this is Sub Focus really, piano samples over a house beat with some nice wobble to accompany it, pretty cheery stuff from the legendary dnb producer. Get on this, quickly. Check 'Move Higher' too, seriously fidgety!

Sub Focus - Could This Be Real [320kbps]

the xx

Low key 2-step from The xx. This song gives me chills ! I never saw this coming when I saw this track appear, if you haven't heard of them The xx (formerly Xerox Teens) are 4 kids from South London who make seriously beautiful music. They went to school with Burial, and have worked with Diplo ! With no drummer (just a drum-machine) they explore all kinds of genres alongside singer-guitarist Romy's indie-princess voice. In places it all kind of comes together like minimal dubstep, but this remix gives a more 2-step feel. They play The Cockpit in Leeds on my birthday - win.

Florence & The Machine - You've Got the Love (The xx Remix)

Skreamer

Some new Skream, but probably not the song you were expecting. Pure darkness from Mr. Jones, the track got rejected by Mau5's label cos they wanted 'something wobbly'. The humming bassline and sneaky snares are alright by me though, see what you think.

Deadmau5 - Strobe (Skream's Eyes Down Tribal Mix)

Wob

Jakwob was giving this one away for free on his SoundCloud page. Proper nice edit of the original, keeps the original melody but adds a subtle bassline underneath, definitely prefer it to the LA Boxers' dub of the track. If this doesn't make you tap your feet and nod your head I dunno what will. Look forward to ANOTHER Ellie Goulding remix from Jakwob aswell, the thought of it makes me a little bit wet.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (Jakwob 'Heads Will Wobble' Remix)

And this is the Goulding track that's getting remixed.

Ellie Goulding - Under The Sheets

Saturday 10 October 2009

things are about to get very, very heavy.

High Rankin's been kicking up a fuss with some seriously heavy dubstep recently. Two of his tracks have been used on Herve's Cheap Thrills Volume 1 (which, apart from the Rankin' tracks, [Fake Blood's] Fix Your Accent & [Speaker Junk's] Outside, is a bit of a disappointment) and Leeds' heads can see him at Bigger Than Barry on the 24th November. This track's taken from the No Money For Guns EP (out on Cheaper Thrills) and can't be described as anything other than HEAVY.

High Rankin - The Tale of Clarence Baskerville (Full Vocal Mix)

Wednesday 7 October 2009

they are prostitutes

For some reason I've only just realised how sick this song is. It's been hiding in my music library for months. Serious gutter bass from 16bit. Check out Borgore's original stuff too, dubstep producer from Tel Aviv which is pretty unusual, definitely worth a listen. I've got an inkling Yael Naim's his sister for some reason aswell ?

Borgore - Foes (16bit Fuck Hoes Remix)

a week without posts is no week at all

*photograph by Keith Loutit, check out his work here

Since a few of us were in Newcastle over the weekend, and Andy George & Jaymo partied at the friends' house we stayed at a couple of nights before, I figure this song's appropriate after a week of no posts ! The first production I've heard from the two as a pair combines George's bouncy bass with Jaymo's more electro lean. If you dint already know, the two have got a regular slot on Radio One now every first Thursday of the month from 9pm - 10pm.

Miike Snow - Black & Blue (Andy George & Jaymo Remix)

New feel from Armand Van Helden. Blends quite a few genres in his remix of North London next-big-electro-thing Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Probably the most random name for a band I've ever heard.

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool - Dance The Way I Feel (Armand Van Helden Club Mix)

Speaker Junk aka Herve and Trevor Loveys are back. Fidgety as fuck. An old remix of Bloc Party thrown in by the pair for good measure too.

Speaker Junk - Outside
Bloc Party - I Still Remember (Speaker Junk Remix)
