Jacked

Bouncy electro fun from Laidback Luke's mate Afrojack. Love the original of this track but I reckon if I post that this post's gone within a day. Oh well, poke her dick. It's a pretty stripped down remix, Afrojack sticking to his simplistic sound, but I think it's just that I love the original so much that I love this remix too, who knows.

slipping under

Chilled out dubstep at it's best. I did some research and I've come up with the result that this track's a cover of Britney Spears' Toxic by a collab of Buju Banton (a dancehall/reggae musician, homophobe & cannabis cultivator) and Yael Naim (a French/Israeli singer/songwriter, you might know her song, New Soul, from the Macbook Air ads) [*stop for breath] then it's remixed by 16bit, big news. Just download it and check it for yourself anyway. Came out in 2008 on Sequence Recordings.

Nin6 is the most beautiful number

If you can remember Rusko's essential mix from late last year, you might remember this track as a standout. The Prodigy get turned into a dubstep MONSTER!

The Prodigy - Breathe (NumberNin6 Remix)

friendly ghost

Caspa remixes Miike Snow, adds a reverberating bassline that works perfectly with Andrew Wyatt's vocals. Looking forward to this dropping.

The Jay-Ou

Jayou's a dude who could construct an orchestra of wobble, his productions are always bang on, and he's got a bit of class about him somehow. Probably 'cos he knows how to make those humming basslines that clean your ears ( check 'Don't Cheat Don't Steal' ).

And he can ride one handed.

Kid Cudi - Day N Nite (Jayou's Hold the Phone Remix) - I think we can put this track to bed now, finally.

Two&Fro

Two&Fro (Luke Elliott & Alex Cornforth) are really beginning to make a name for themselves on the Newcastle scene with sets coming up at the O2 Academy, a residency spot at Sea and regular work across the country on behalf of Red Bull. It's not undeserving either, and aside from the fact they're two of my best friends, these guys are providing some of the most innovative and exciting fidget sets that i've seen in a while. Where as most up and coming dj's of our generation are still learning to beatmatch and drop a fat bassline these guys are years ahead of the competition taking their time to edit songs and samples on ableton to guarantee that their set is original and inspiring. As they gain more exposure and get more experience under their belts these guys are definitely two to watch out for in the future.

Here's a quick mix provided by one half of the duo, Luke Elliott.

War Of The Worlds Mix

Catch them both in action at Creep! on the 7th October.

LSD, XTC, SMD

Not heard anything new from Dada Life for a while, but they've taken (probably one of the weirdest songs I've heard in a while) Audacity of Huge and made it dancefloor friendly with a pretty mint house beat. This is the 10th in the Swedes' Guerilla Fart remixes if your interested aswell, and their album, Just Do The Dada's out now on The Hours.

Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge (Dada Life Guerilla Fart #10)

Too Big

Fuck knows why I haven't heard about this 'til now, fucking ridiculousness from Chase & Status bassing the shit out of old school Dizzee Rascal (when he was jus' a rascal and dint jus' chat shit about holidays). Starts out dub then turns into some meaty dnb. Managed to find a 278kbps (?) version from some shotty website. Turn it up loooouuuddddd! Credit to Ollie for finding this gem.

Dizzee Rascal - Sirens (Chase & Status Remix)

Bonus:

Remember Enigma's Hide & Seek remix? KT and Enigma both go to uni in Leeds aswell, so gotta show some love! Enigma's definitely one to watch out for now.

KT - The Moment (Enigma Dubstep Remix)

Downright Dirty

I've never heard of Sharooz before but he seems to be doing pretty well for himself with both 2 Many DJ's and Moby dropping this track. To accompany that fact that Miles Dyson has done a remix of the song means that Sharooz should be gaining some good publicity.

I don't usually like this kind of electro as it can get a little bit repetitive but this track has an amazing drop into one of the dirties basslines i've heard in a while. Seriously, I had to take a shower after hearing this.

Thought I'd Drop You A Line...

I can't stop listening to it!
If you've got speakers with good bass turn them RIGHT up!
(Alternatively if you have speakers with poor bass, you may want to invest in some good ones to listen to this song as the bassline will not be heard on shit speakers).

Major Lazer - Hold The Line (Skreamix)

French Kicks

Here's the latest from Garrin French for those of you who haven't already got them. The Beastie Boys remix is particularly worth a listen.

Change of name to come: Follow The Rusko.

This is probably my favourite A1 Bassline song to date.

Deadmau5 X Nero

There's barely any Deadmau5 stuff I like, I'm not into that progressive, build-up, epic-scale house. I'm too much a product of impatience. I breath impatience, that's why I like basslines low and heavy, or loud and bouncy - they're on a plate for you and you don't have to wait 3 minutes for them to build up. But anyway, here's Nero's take on Deadmau5. This I like.

Last Japan

Last Japan is Marco Giuliani, hailing from London. He's been making a bit of a name for himself recently, being named Kissy Sell Out's 'young blood' aka. one to watch, won a mix contest for The Fat! Club, dared to fiddle Skream's La Roux dub, and remixed Laidback Luke & Diplo on top of his own productions. And whilst this was going on, he's been studying Music Production at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guilford. I was gonna say 'Big in '09', but fuck me, where's the year gone?

How I fucked off all my friends

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

So, as usual I haven't posted anything on here for a while as I've been busy travelling and enjoying the festival season. However, this doesn't mean that I haven't had anything to post and there's a lot of new music that I want to put on here so in return for not posting for a while I've put together a few songs from artists who I've really been into over the past few weeks. If you've enjoyed everything put on the blog so far, your probably not going to enjoy this post. If your looking for the usual standard bass heavy danceables then you'll have to wait and I assure you I will provide you with some disgusting drops next time I post but for now I wanted to show you something a little bit different.

I've archived these using WinRar so if you haven't got it you will need to download it here. It's probably worth downloading because anytime I upload more than a few songs I tend to use WinRar.

RIVERSIDE MOTHERFUCKER

I'm sure you'll have heard of Poo Girl if you were at Leeds Fest, if not i don't have a clue where you were!? Or what you were on? I was in yellow but unfortunately missed it, i just caught a glimpse of the fire truck on it's way. I've heard it was pretty exciting stuff though! Apparently she went to hospital, got cleaned up then came back!
Anyway, Friday night me Chris and Ollie did an hour set at the campsite DJ, a lot of the stuff from Follow The Dark was played and went down a fucking treat! We were pretty much the only DJs that played dubstep which was a bit disappointing but pretty cool too to see the crowd reacted to it how they did.
The song i'm posting isn't actually dubstep though, for once.
I heard this song at the campsite DJ tent and loved it. I've never heard it before, or the artist. Good song though! Definitely worth the download!

Riverside - Sidney Samson

(Not great quality, sorry!)
