Rusty Bucket Bay.

Photobucket

On July 17th 1998 Banjo-Kazooie was released on the Nintendo 64, one of the harder levels was named Rusty Bucket Bay. Almost ten years later after a handful of equally retarded names we settled on Rusty Bucket Bay as the name for our ill conceived club night. Our first event in October was attended by only a handful of the most devoted heads in Leeds, but we seem to have gone from strength to strength since then. Our last event in May sealed the deal really, a packed out night of stupidly heavy dubstep, showing that there is a place where Rusty Bucket fits in the landscape of Leeds club nights. We will return in September, and would love for you to join us...

(Peter Trifunovic - One of Rusty Buckets founders)

Here's the latest Rusty Bucket Mixtape.

Rusty Bucketed Mixtape Vol.3 [MP3]

Heppy J - Another founder of Rusty Bucket and a rising Leeds Dj and producer is working his way up in the world.

Resident of Rusty Bucket, Heppy J is going from strength to strength and Rusty Bucket has played a big part in his success. Over the Past year He's played with the likes of Baobinga, A1 Baseline, Distinction, Trolley Snatcha and many more.
Check out his myspace for his lates tracks and dates of where to catch him next.

And here's my favorite, absolutely can't get enough of this track its a belter. Credit to Heppy J.

____________________________________

I know we post a lot of dubstep here and I (we all - I reckon) should clear up that we are not, neither are we trying to say, that we're experts on the genre. In recent months loads of people have been jumping on the dub bandwagon and it's definitely the music craze of the moment and we're part of this bandwagon. We only got into the genre because it started to build up some momentum in the blog/club world and we (like you lot) aren't pioneering any new genre here. Dubstep's been around for ages with the likes of Skream, Caspa and Rusko burrowing in the underground for the past 5 years. Maybe these guys want this shit kept underground, I don't have a fucking clue. But it's a big thing now, and I'm glad the bandwagon came, otherwise I probably would never have given dub a chance. I truly hate people who act like they were the first person to hear a genre, or 'discovered' a band/dj, and that they've been there from the start when they haven't, then destroy it with awful, awful mainstream-bandwagon-posing-nights.

Rant over.

Get ready for the dubstep comedown,

MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD.

As the saying goes; All good things must come to an end.
Unfortunate, but true.
I thought it'd right for me to post a Jacko song..

They Say It's Lonely at the Top

It's a lovely sunny Sunday and it's father's day.
I'm sat in the garden listening to a classic hip-hop song from a classic artist.
I just wanted to share it with you lot, it's a proper good summer song!
I also found it pretty hard to find so i guess posting this makes it easier :)

Last night we went down to Filth at Mint Club in Leeds. It was absolutely insane. The lineup was Trevor Loveys, Mightyfools and the usual Filth residents.
Trevor Loveys was the first headliner to come on and he played a really good set. The song that I enjoyed the most was his remix of They Live by Evil Nine.

Evil Nine - They Live (Trevor Loveys Remix)

He then played one of my favorite songs at the moment which is Pon De Floor by Major Laser (Diplo and Switch). The crowd went mental for this song and at this time there was a really good atmosphere going in the club.

Major Laser - Pon De Floor

The part of Mightyfools i remember most and was probably my favorite part of the night is when they dropped the Caspa Remix of Wheres My Money by TC and one of the guys from Mightyfools crowdsurfed and everyone really loved it.

TC - Wheres My Money (Caspa Remix)

It was an awesome night and I advise everyone who hasn't been to Filth yet to go at some point because it is one of the best if not the best night in Leeds at the moment.

Last night me and my friend got asked to DJ at a housewarming party in Headingly, student Capital of Leeds. We got there at about 11 and the house was packed, but was missing something. We went straight down into the basement and turned over a sofa and set up our gear. We got the music on and the room filled up in a matter of seconds. everyone was really up for it and we had an ace night.
This is the song that got the room moving at the beginning.

Kelevra - Love You So (Feat Kop Out - Mightyfools Remix)

It set the pace for the night and then about half way through we dropped a big dubstep song and played dubstep for the rest of the night and everyone went mad for it.
All in all it was a great night and this is the song that got the dubstep crowd moving.

Touch Too Much

I just got one of the old iPod touches off a mate and i wanted to make a new post using it. Unfortunately the internet on iPod's is weird and i could type anything so I've had to do it on my laptop and dedicate it to my iPod.. Never the less.. I've got some songs to share with you..

First up, I called this post 'Touch Too Much' which is the title of a hot chip song which Fake Blood did a remix of a while back. I thought it'd probably be appropriate if i posted that song.

Hot Chip - Touch Too Much (Fake Blood Remix)

Originally i had a couple of songs, which I've been listening to a lot recently, that i was going to post on here. They're both really different from artists previously posted on this site but i love them both..

Esser - Work It Out (Jaymo Remix)

The Temper Trap - Science of Fear (Herve Dub Remix)

You Should Love & Be Loved

The Foamo palmsout mix just keeps on giving and giving. Another massive tune from it, this time a Lee Mortimer remix. Both Mortimer and Foamo have got that bouncy, buzzy bassline dialled and I don't think there's anyone doing it better right now. If you're not liking this track at its beginning, hold out (or skip - your choice) to about 2 minutes 40 and it's a spine tingler. The vocals have a got an eery feeling like Simon Lord (Simian/The Black Ghosts) aka the voice of "We Are Your Friends".

Cat House - Animal Skin (Lee Mortimer Remix) [mp3]

This blog needs more music

This Town Needs Guns are a beautiful indie band from Oxford who have just released their debut album 'Animals', which you should get a hold of if you haven't already. For fans of American Football and Minus the Bear TTNG manage to create a fine blend of intelligent, emotionally driven indie that provides the perfect soundtrack for a beautiful summers day. This track is an old one and has been stuck on repeat on my itunes for the last week.

This Town Needs Guns - Wanna come back to my room and listen to some belle and sebastian?

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

Time for something a little different. All the posts so far have been bass heavy dance music, so this song's a refreshing change (hopefully a well received one). Iron & Wine is Samuel Beam, and this song is from his 4th album, Around the Well, which is a compilation of all Iron's previously unreleased tracks. Definitely one to chill out to.

Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger [mp3]

Hopefully this shows you all we're not just about basslines and bpm-matching.

More Foam Please

I spent all day yesterday serving pissed up Manc's beer, cider + the occasional Bacardi Breezer. Some were cunts, other's were hilarious but all of them led to quite a stressful day. Here's the song that calmed me down on the coach journey home.

Mystery Jets - Two Doors Down (Duke Dumont Reconstruction - Foamo Edit) [mp3]

On the Foamo palmsout mix it's labelled as a Foamo Remix, but I'm pretty sure it's just an edit of the Duke Dumont mix - the drum beat's the giveaway.

JakWob

Photobucket

A friend of mine showed me this song a few days ago and i absolutely fell in love with it. It has to be one of the best songs I've heard in a hell of a long time. Jakwob has been able to capture the original songs grace but put it over an absolutely massive dubstep bassline. This guy deserves a lot of credit.

If i'm honest, i wanted to steal the first post. Now i'm 4th though..
I don't have a select genre of music and i'm not going to stick to a schedule but watch this space for for some of the best new (and old) music out there.

Just a taster of what's to come:

Jaymo - Tuned in Live

Man Like Me - London Town (Foamo Remix)

More to come!

Mr French

Garrin French has been making some headway on the Newcastle music scene for a little while now. He has to be one of my favourite electro/house dj's to listen to at the moment and his mixes are always pretty fun and exciting. The best thing about Garrin's mixes is that he doesn't follow the rules in terms of his song choices and always throws in something unexpected.

Garrin's latest, 'Who ya gonna call', mix features a really sweet remix of the Ghostbusters theme as well as loads of jackin, wonky, bouncy electro beats.

Weirdly, this first post is gonna link you to another blog. But it will bring you great things - i.e. the new Foamo summer mix. If you listened to last year's summer mix by him, you will download. If you like music, you need to download it. Bouncy, buzzy with-a-bitta dub, it's perfect for an upbeat summer's day/evening/night/morning/dusk/dawn/other time of day. Get it here.

Cheers Palms Out Sounds, we look forward to more summer mixtapes! And you lot (aka nobody, yet) should look forward to some great music from this blog.
